“The Great One” #99 Wayne Gretzky has hand-signed this very rare limited edition 16x20 photo that was taken during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics Torch relay. It comes authenticated by WGA – Wayne’s own memorabilia distributor. Comes with the WGA hologram of authenticity (does not come with a separate COA). It is hand-numbered 76 of 99. The signed 16x20 photo has been custom framed in-house in our framing studio and measures 25x31 inches framed. This is the exact item you are bidding on.
After traveling the globe for 106 days, the 2010 Olympic Torch made its way into Vancouver's BC Place Stadium on February 12, 2010. Nearly 12,000 torchbearers carried the torch along the route. Five Canadian athletes including hockey icon Wayne Gretzky were secretly selected to light the indoor Olympic Cauldron. Gretzky then left BC Place on his way to Coal Harbour where he lit the outdoor cauldron. Wayne Gretzky is the first and only person to light two official Olympic Cauldrons during the same Olympic Games.
He played 20 seasons in the NHL for four teams from 1979 to 1999. Nicknamed "The Great One", he has been called the greatest hockey player ever by many. Gretzky is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and assists than any other player. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, Gretzky tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999 and persisting through 2017, he holds 61 NHL records: 40 regular season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records. Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Gretzky honed his skills at a backyard rink and regularly played minor hockey at a level far above his peers. Gretzky's intelligence and reading of the game were unrivaled.
