1972 Summit Series Anthum 12x18 Photo Signed by 6 Canada and USSR legends
1972 Summit Series 12x18 Photo. This photo shows both Team Canda and the U.S.S.R standing for the national anthems in the Montreal Forum. The 1972 Summit Series, also known as the Series of the Century, was an eight-game ice hockey showdown between the Soviet Union and Canada. Held in September 1972, it marked the first time the Soviet national team faced a Canadian team represented by professional NHL players. The series aimed to create a true best-against-best competition in ice hockey, as the Soviets had become dominant in international play while Canadian professionals were ineligible to participate. The games were split between Canada and Moscow, with intense nationalistic feelings on both sides. Ultimately, Canada won the series four games to three, with one tie, and Paul Henderson’s dramatic last-minute goal in the final game remains an iconic moment in hockey history. This photo has been hand signed by Canadians Phil Esposito, Frank Mahovlich and Brad Park, as well as Russians Victor Kuzkin, Valery Vasiliev and Alexander Yakushev.Signed with a blue marker.AJ Sports guarantees this autographed memorabilia to be authentic.
