Gordie Howe vs Johnny Bower Dual Signed Original 6 McFarlane NHL Showdown Action Figure Base – 6 inch scale. Both of these late hockey legends have signed this base. Howe added his “Mr Hockey” inscription next to his signature. This is a very unique collectible that was signed at AJ Sports managed private signings. This item will be accompanied with an AJ Sports Certificate of Authenticity and tamper resistant hologram. AJ Sports guarantees the authenticity of these signatures as well as any signature we offer for sale. This is the exact item you are bidding on.
The figurines have not been removed from their original clam shell packaging. The base was removed when signed and photographed for this auction. It will come in its original box that has been opened.
Howe is painted in Detroit’s red jersey for the first time, while Bower showcases the white Toronto jersey that debuted as a chase figure in 2007’s NHL Legends 6 lineup. This confrontation takes place on McFarlane Toys’ Classic Hockey Goal base, where both figures display perfectly for a one-on-one showdown. “Mr. Hockey” goes glove-side against “The China Wall” and only you can decide the outcome.
This lot came from a large private collection that we recently acquired (The GW Collection). We will be featuring many items from this elaborate collection that took years to curate in our upcoming auctions. The items from the GW Collection were acquired over a 20 year plus span by a local Toronto based, in-person collector who spent thousands, upon thousands of hours at signings and shows to acquire these unique items. Some pieces from the collection have documentation from other reputable sources that we will specify in detail for each auction item. We are very honoured to be able to showcase this wonderful collection with many one-of-a-kind items that have not been offered in the marketplace for many years, if ever.
