This very rare and unique lot features a letter that has been hand-signed and content written by the late Montreal Canadiens owner and Hall of Famer Hartland Molson. It has been printed on his own personal office stationery, dated November 28, 1995 and signed with his trademark fountain pen. The letter which measures 7.5x10.5 inches has creases from being folded, includes very rare incites and his opinion on such matters as the best Canadiens team ever, Jean Beliveau and the current teams’ coach at that time (1995).

The receivers name has been removed on the image you are viewing for privacy reasons but the winning bidder will receive the letter in its original, non-altered state. Very few of these letters have ever been made available for sale in the market let alone with such specific and personal incites from a former team owner.

Hartland de Montarville Molson, OC, OBE, OQ (May 29, 1907 – September 28, 2002) was a Canadian senator, military aviator, and a member of the Molson family of brewers. In 1957, in partnership with his brother Thomas Henry Pentland Molson, Molson purchased the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. As a member of the Board of Governors of the National Hockey League, Molson was instrumental in raising the profile of both the league and his brewing company through sponsorship of the Hockey Night in Canada television broadcasts. As head of the Montreal Canadiens team, he helped develop the personnel to end the Detroit Red Wings dominance, building one of the greatest dynasties in all of sport. After winning the 1968 Stanley Cup Hartland retired, and David, Peter, William Molson took over control of the Canadiens. The team was sold in 1972 to Edward and Peter Bronfman. Senator Hartland Molson name was engraved on the Stanley Cup 6 times 1958-59-60-65-66-68. In 1973, he was inducted into the builder’s category of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
