Wayne Gretzky Signed New York Rangers Liberty Double Starter/NHL Patch Pro Jersey Authenticated By WG Authentic, a Wayne Gretzky Company.
This very hard to find Wayne Gretzky authentic pro New York Rangers white Liberty jersey; size 56-R has been beautifully hand-signed by Wayne with his stunning letter for letter signature and trademark #99 that he underlined.
This highly collectible pro Rangers Liberty Starter authentic pro jersey with fight strap has been autographed by "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky. It features the incredibly rare and hard to find double Starter and NHL patches on each side of the bottom/back of the jersey. During his playing career, Gretzky famously tucked his jersey into the right side of his pants. Because of this Starter manufactured jerseys specifically for him with their logo on both sides of the jersey. Double Starter / NHL patched jerseys like this are extremely tough to obtain, no longer produced and highly sought-after by serious Gretzky collectors.
This jersey has been authenticated By WG Authentic, a Wayne Gretzky Company (WGA). Their official hologram of authenticity is affixed to the back of the jersey below his signature. The hologram on the jersey will serve as the complete authentication for this item and does not come with a loose COA. You are bidding on the exact item pictured in the photos. Please see photos for exact details on this lot.
Please note: the jersey does not come with tags and due to its age and being stored in a closet for years it does not have that “new” jersey smell. Jersey has some minor discoloration and hard to see markings on one blue sleeve.
Gretzky played 20 seasons in the NHL for four teams from 1979 to 1999. Gretzky is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and assists than any other player. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, Gretzky tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999 and persisting through 2017, he holds 61 NHL records: 40 regular season records, 15 playoff records, and six All-Star records. Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Gretzky honed his skills at a backyard rink and regularly played minor hockey at a level far above his peers. Gretzky's intelligence and reading of the game were unrivaled.
